The Long Island Quilters' Society, Inc.was chartered in March 1986 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to furthering an interest in quilting, encouraging preservation of our quilt heritage, and offering instructional opportunities to its members. The Society publishes a bi-monthly newsletter which informs members of the many activities available to them. A lending library, trips to regional and national quilt shows, monthly programs, member workshops scheduled in addition to the regular meetings, and lectures and workshops conducted by nationally recognized professionals are just some of the opportunities offered to the membership. The Society has a fifteen member Board of Directors elected by the membership. They serve two year terms. The Society conducts regular monthly meetings at the Freeport Recreation Center, Merrick Road, Freeport, at which time it offers its membership an opportunity to share their skills and give mutual support to each other's growth and development.
